Applications For Our Annual Grade 12 Graduation Bursaries – NOW OPEN!

Summerland Credit Union has up to $4,000 in bursaries available to graduating students who are planning to attend a public or private post-secondary approved program. The number of recipients and the amount to be awarded will be at the discretion of the Bursary Committee.

The deadline to apply is May 31, 2020Applications are available in-branch and online, follow this link for more information on the application criteria and process.


Canada Emergency Business Account (CEBA) – NOW AVAILABLE!

The new Canada Emergency Business Account (CEBA) will provide loans of up to $40,000 to small businesses and not-for-profits to help cover their operating costs during a period where their revenues have been temporarily reduced. To qualify, organizations will need to demonstrate that they meet the criteria of having paid between $20,000 to $1.5 million in total payroll in 2019.

Eligible SDCU business members can now apply for the CEBA loan program through our Business Online Banking platform. The link to the application can be found under Account Services in the left-hand menu once you are logged in.

Once you have completed and submitted your application / attestation, you will receive an email from SDCU via DocuSign which will include a loan application that will also need to be completed. See full CEBA application instructions here.

If you do not want to access the CEBA program through Business Online Banking, we are working on a manual process for the program which should be ready to launch in mid-May.


AGM & Directors’ Election Update

In keeping with the need for social distancing, Summerland & District Credit Union has postponed the 2020 Board of Directors’ election and its Annual General Meeting (note, it was previously scheduled for May 7, 2020). No alternate date has yet been set.

We will communicate to members in the near future with details as to when the Directors’ election and AGM will be held.

New CRA Direct Deposit – NOW AVAILABLE!

During this challenging time we’re here to help you get Government funding in your account faster.

Through Online Banking (desktop only), you can set up or modify your CRA direct deposit instructions, so you get your government benefit payments faster. This includes the Canada Emergency Response Benefit (CERB), income tax refunds, GST/HST credits and more. Note, this feature is not available through the Mobile Banking App or Mobile Web.

Having Trouble Logging Into The Mobile App? See Update Below

The Summerland & District Credit Union Mobile Banking App was recently updated to a newer version. Users who are accessing the new app for the first-time are required to delete and re-enter their access information upon first login.

Simply open the app and select "Settings", choose "Saved Logins" and delete the one that is there and set it up again. Once you have completed this set-up upon your first login, you won’t be required to do it again.

Pandemic Responses & Coronavirus (COVID-19) - Updated April 14


Adjusting our hours of service

To help ensure the health and safety of our members and employees, we will be adjusting our hours. Beginning, April 18, the branch hours will be slightly condensed to accommodate our reduced staff schedule. The new hours are as follows:

Monday to Wednesday 10:00 am to 4:00 pm

Thursday to Friday 10:00 am to 6:00 pm

Saturday - Closed

In the event of further changes to our hours of operation, updates will be posted here and at the branch.

As the COVID-19 pandemic continues to evolve, we want to ensure you that at Summerland Credit Union we are doing everything we can to support you through these challenging times. It's uncharted waters for the global community in all respects - health, economy, markets, social norms, and more. And while we are all being inundated with messages about changing circumstances, here is some important information from your credit union.

1. First … your money is safe. All funds on deposit at Summerland Credit Union are 100% protected and guaranteed by the

Credit Union Deposit Insurance Corporation of BC*. Our organization is strong and stable, and our experienced management team is well-equipped to adapt to these evolving conditions.

We’re also aware that some of our business and personal members may be experiencing unexpected economic issues related to this health crisis. As such, our team at the credit union is more than willing to review any and all financial issues with our members and look for creative solutions.

2. You have options for accessing your finances. While our branch currently remains open for business, this is being assessed daily. Any changes will be communicated on our website. As we practice the recommended "social distancing", we encourage members to avoid coming into the branch unless you need to. There are a number of other ways we can support you in managing your money:

  • Call our Contact Centre (250) 494-7181 for assistance with virtually any financial question or transaction.
  • Use Online or Mobile Banking to check account balances, transfer funds, pay bills, send and receive e-Transfers, and more.
  • You can also use ATMs or the “Deposit Anywhere” feature available through Mobile Banking to deposit cheques anytime with your smartphone.
  • Business members can utilize night deposit to deposit cash and cheques outside of normal banking hours
  • If you’re outside of Summerland you can use any ACCULINK ATMs surcharge free; they are easy to locate using our Mobile Banking App
  • Meet "virtually" with your advisor by connecting with them via phone or email

3. What we’re doing to help keep our members and employees healthy. Related to health officials’ recommendations concerning social distancing, we are also asking any members who may be experiencing any cold/flu symptoms to please refrain from visiting the branch. Just give us a call and we can look at the safest way to fulfill your request.

If you do need to come into a branch, be assured we are taking every precaution by adhering to all recommended personal hygiene and facilities deep-cleaning practices.
